Refurbishment of the Organ, November 2002

The present organ dates originally from 1884 when Eustace Ingram built it for what was then Great Union Road Methodist Chapel. On the closure of the chapel in or about 1967, the organ was given to St. John’s Church, replacing an electronic instrument. Over the years various improvements have been made, but the passage of time had begun to tell on the action such that a complete rebuild was needed to preserve the instrument, which took place in 2002.
